Woodpecker Feeders and Everything About It

Different kinds of birds and not only woodpeckers enjoy woodpecker bird feeders. In any case, if you are interested to have one, you need to know some of the basic things that involve bird feeding and feeders. Knowing these things will be a lot helpful in setting up your own bird feeder. You can opt to buy woodpecker feeders at the local pet supplies store or build your own. If you plan to pursue your own feeder, then you need to have pieces of food, pointed saw to make holes and some nails. To make it more interesting, consider this as some kind of a carpentry project. It is best to use mesh wires if you do not fancy sawing and cutting wood. All you need is to loop it around to create a space to fill in the woodpecker’s food. Now the round holes that you are about to cut should be placed on the two sides so that the woodpecker can eat the food in there. To setup a bird house feeder, particularly woodpecker feeders, you need to take some time in order to find out which tree branch will give a full view for the feeder. Choosing a big branch is an option for woodpeckers to have a wider space. Of course, you don’t want too many birds scattered around your feeder that is why it is best to think of a place where birds won’t tend to stay.

Basically, you need power drill, twines and bird house to finally build your own woodpecker feeders. Use the power drill to bore a hole into the chosen tree branch. You have to make sure that the hole you made is deep enough to let the twines pass through it. Once you have inserted the twines or the shoelaces, hoist up your birds feeder to a manageable height. A ladder may be what you need if you have placed the woodpecker feeders a little higher.

Make sure that the twines of the woodpecker bird feeders are secure and tight enough. It will not hurt to tie it in two separate places for stability and support. Tug lightly at the bird’s feeder so that you will know if the entire assembly is structurally ok.

Next thing you need to do is to step back a little bit further to see how your feeder would look from afar. If you think that you might need to do adjustments, you may certainly do so.

Sooner, woodpeckers will be gathered around your feeders. You can probably take pictures from afar to enjoy the sight of woodpeckers gathered up your feeders.

Woodpecker bird feeders are not that difficult to manage as what they seem. In case that the bird feeders needs some cleaning, you can use a small brush to sweep away the dirt. To maintain the enthusiasm of woodpeckers on your feeder, make sure that your feeder is clean enough to be attractive.
